Located in Abades, in the municipality of Arico, this beautiful beach, called Playa de Los Abriguitos, is made of fine volcanic sand.
You can get there easily from the T-F1 taking exit number 42, Villa de Arico-Abades and, following the signs to get to the center of the village, you will find it in front of you.
It extends for 250 meters in length and 38 meters in width; with parking, from fifty to about a hundred cars, there is the possibility to rent the sun beds or bring everything directly from home and, not least, has access for disabled people.
This beach, called by the inhabitants of Playa de Abades, is quite windy, like that of El Medano, but the waters, on the contrary, are very calm and you can swim with the whole family. Unfortunately, in terms of tourism, it is not very popular because on several maps of the island is not even reported, but during the summer is crowded with residents so it would be good to go early in the morning to find a place near the water’s edge.
Thanks to its calm and clear sea, it is possible to admire its depths by doing a bit of diving or snorkeling. Unfortunately, it does not have a real walk on the beach, but you will realize that it has a breathtaking landscape, just turn away from the sea and see Abades, this small village all made up of little white houses that remind a few Italian villages and the old sanatorium of Abades, where it is said there have been episodes concerning the ghosts.
Finally, if you want to continue walking, after this beach, through a path that climbs the mountain, you can reach Cardones beach.
We invite you to spend a day because it’s really worth it!
