Located in Puerto de Santiago, Playa Chica is a small black sand beach that forms a cove protected by the sea and was one of the most important natural shelters on the coast. Do you think that its measures are: 50 meters long and only 20 meters wide.
Very frequented by residents, few tourists are aware of it and go to the nearby Playa San Juan, this small but relaxing beach offers everything a tourist could wish for; tranquility, possibility of bathing with children because at the beginning the water is low and is much warmer than in other places, to snorkel.
If at lunch time you get a light peckish, do not worry if you have not brought your packed lunch, there are local restaurants and a Kiosco that cook some fabulous specialties, we have tried it.
To reach the beach there is a small two-way street and you can park at the end of it, or on foot, we also confirm that there is access for disabled people.
It is equipped with a foot washer, showers, cleaning services and trash cans. Nearby you can visit the Fisherman’s Museum and every year the exhibitions change. From this beach, begins the coastal promenade of Costa Santiago that comes right in front of the cliffs of Los Gigantes, and where you can find natural pools, bars, restaurants, and hotels.
June 23 is celebrated San Juan and, if you are in the area, do not miss the bonfires and fireworks that they do here because they are exceptional while every July there is the maritime procession of the Virgen del Carmen.
We just have to wish everyone good Playa, and do not forget the sunscreen because this part of the island is warmer.
