Vilaflor, a municipality in the south of the island that extends between 1,000 and 1,600 meters. of height on the sea and represents, with the characteristics of the own territory, the antechamber of the Teide; the climate that characterizes it is extremely mountainous and its characteristic pine forests, the purest air, the various cultivations that represent its agricultural profile tell of a different environment from that of the classic southern sea and sun.
It is therefore assumed that the territory of Vilaflor turns out to be a paradise for lovers of nature, the mountains and the “senderismo”, trekking and mountain biking, hiking sports practiced through the many paths of ancient use by the natives who used it every day in the area, above all, of sheep farming.
Remarkable is the presence of “therapeutic” tourism by people suffering from respiratory diseases due to the aforementioned goodness of the air, who frequent the small valley in which the municipal capital Vilaflor de Chasna is set.
In addition to the splendid natural features of this town hall we must not forget its historical and cultural contents such as the Parish of St. Peter the Apostle erected on the hermitage of San Pedro Apostle by the Soler family (Pedro Soler and his wife Juana de Padilla) to whom we owe the foundation dated between 1530 and 1531 of Vilaflor de Chasna who also saw the presence of the first Canarian saint Pedro de San José Betancur, better known as Brother Pedro, whose presence is mentioned in many places in the south of Tenerife.
But let’s not forget how much Vilaflor expressly evokes; the majestic Teide, the volcano chosen Natural Monument surrounded by the Teide National Park and the Corona Forest Natural Park of which the municipality is worthy part and which fully represents its natural beauty and environmental spectacularity.
We recall that the municipality of Vilaflor, together with those of El Tanque and Tegueste, do not enjoy access to the sea.
