Barranco and Charca de Tahodio
The Barranco de Tahodio is a ravine in the Anaga massif located in the basin of the river or valley of the same name. Administratively it is framed in the municipal term of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and is protected in almost all its path under the protected natural space of the Anaga Rural Park.
In the central part of the ravine we find the Tahodio dam, better known as Charca de Tahodio, it is an artificial basin built in order to store water for the irrigation of the banana plantations existing in the valley and in the small orchards that were located on the edge of the ravine.
It is located an hour’s walk from the La AlegrÃa district, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and can be reached by a path that runs along the banks of the Barranco de Tahodio and reaches the Pico del Inglés, on Monte de Las Mercedes.
