Rising up the west face of the Teide volcano to a peak elevation of 315m above sea level, we find Abama’s Golf, located precisely in Playa San Juan, a paradise to visit and, for those who are practical, to play.
The championship course has 18 holes and a vegetation that is also the envy of the botanical garden: 300 species of existing subtropical plants, 20,000 palm trees and, in order not to miss anything, white sand bunkers and more than twenty scattered lakes, with attached waterfalls, for all the playground.
This incredible work of art was built by Dave Thomas, a Welsh professional golfer, and after retiring from a golf tournament due to back and eye problems, Thomas started a golf course design business thus arriving to design more than 100 all over the world.
Overlooking the sea, this golf course is part of a large and luxurious resort, called, precisely, Abama, where you can safely spend your holiday in Tenerife in the name of sport.
From any hole you can enjoy beautiful views of the island of La Gomera and, being in an area of the island chaotic, you can admire the beautiful sunsets while the ball is about to go into the hole!
For those who are not avid gamers or just wanting to try it, the Abama’s Golf Academy offers facilities for beginners and experts alike, including a driving range and chipping and putting greens. The 5-hectare practice area encompasses three par-3 holes for less experienced golfers and our highly qualified golf professionals are available to aid players of every level.
You can finally accompany your partner or husband / wife to play, while you take a ride in this fabulous resort, perhaps sipping champagne, open all year from 7.00 to 19.00.
Acclaimed as one of the most beautiful courses in Spain, this is a golf course in Tenerife created to test and surprise all golfers, regardless of their level of experience.
What do we do, do we meet in the field? Good “played”.
