We begin the article by introducing the eighth island that is part of the Canary archipelago, recognized by the Spanish Senate in June 2018, and is La Graciosa, accessible only from Lanzarote by boat, has about 700 inhabitants but is visited by more than twenty thousand tourists every summer.
How to move between the islands starting from Tenerife? Let’s see how to reach them (Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, El Hierro, Gran Canaria, La Gomera).
The easiest and least expensive thing is definitely the plane, which, for destinations like Fuerteventura or Lanzarote, has travel time of about 50 minutes, while for the other islands, you have a flight of about thirty minutes and the companies that make these routes are Binter or Canaryfly.
If, however, you do not suffer the ship, you can use it to take a few hours of travel while enjoying the views and the ocean, if you look out for the water you can also see dolphins and whales. With companies like Armas, Transmediterranea or Fred Olsen, you can buy the ticket and take your car with you so you can be independent without having to rent one on the other side. The shortest trip is the one that connects Tenerife from the port of Los Cristianos to La Gomera, about an hour and 40 minutes, to La Palma are about three hours, to El Hierro about two hours and a half.
To reach Gran Canaria you have to leave from Santa Cruz and travel time is between two and three hours; Lanzarote and Fuerteventura are the most distant, so it will take about 10/16 hours.
The islands of El Hierro and La Gomera are the smallest by extension, 268.70 km and 369.74 km², so you can visit them in one day, for all the other islands we recommend at least one stay from 2 to 7 days, so you can to turn without having the anxiety of time.
From this article we can therefore deduce that Tenerife, being the largest island by extension (2 034,21 km²), is the center from which to leave.
