El Médano, which we visit today, is a pretty and charming town located in the south of Tenerife.
Directly on the sea El Médano embraces the longest natural sandy beach of the island, about 3 kilometers which is considered the “Paradise of the Surfers”.
Even today, as for decades, there are even competitions in the world cup here, too, because at El Médano almost always a constant and pleasant wind blows, which makes even the hottest days bearable.
Positive the fact that this location is credited with greater presence of sunny days than they enjoy Los Cristianos and Las Americas.
Many inhabitants of the north of the island have the habit of spending their summer holidays in El Médano, finding this location much nicer and frendly than the tourist capitals mentioned above, since it is known but not crowded with tourists.
It goes without saying that many wealthy inhabitants of the island have a second home here.
The restaurants are really numerous, the possibilities to make purchases equally, especially because on the plaza, every weekend, there is a lively and colorful mercadillo where you can shop at great prices.
This place really offers everything that can make considering a stop on the spot a complete holiday.
The Medano coast is located between the montaña Pelada and the montaña Roja (red mountain) on which the hiking trails are strongly recommended to enjoy the view of the entire coastal area.
We report nearby the “Parque eolico de Granadilla”, a wind farm that feeds about 3000 houses and, at 5 km, “La cueva del Hermano Pedro” a cave sanctuary dedicated to the oldest saint of the Canary Islands.
